Lunch with Friends

A block swap with an online group meant that I received a bunch of bento blocks last month. I combined these with the ones I’d kept and made the top whilst on holiday a few weeks ago. I’d seen a lovely quilt in a recent magazine (sorry, can’t remember which one!) and rather fancied using plain grey sashing with red quilting for a change, so that’s what I did, using fabric I bought at Sandown. I used the same red for the cornerstones and the binding (which took FOREVER…..) The quilting is definitely NOT straight but I like the random effect, especially combined with the randomness of the blocks and their wonkiness. Amazing that we’d all used the same instructions but hardly any blocks joined  squarely without fudging, including the sets of my own…

I had a few blocks leftover so made a quilted cover to store the quilt itself in.

About sheppeylass

Mum of 4, I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I've always sewn but the quilting bug snagged me a couple of years ago and now, with the encouragement of my artist husband, I'm spreading my wings into textile art.
