Birthday presents

One of Isabella’s little friends was five last month so I ran up a little bag which seemed to suit her daintiness. I used fabric left from baby quilts and some left-over fleece blanket so it was a very budget-friendly present!

Lawrence attends forest school and gym with Isabella. He’s also a Sea Cadet so I took the chance to make another Crossed Canoes cushion, also using leftover fabric. It had been supposed to be a quick project but the quilting took rather longer than intended – a whole afternoon in fact… This is the back. I’ve been quilting the whole of my cushion covers recently for a more luxurious effect and adding a strip of colour seems to be becoming another favourite technique too!

Hopefully, there are no more friends’ birthdays for a while as there are a lot of family ones coming up!

About sheppeylass

Mum of 4, I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I've always sewn but the quilting bug snagged me a couple of years ago and now, with the encouragement of my artist husband, I'm spreading my wings into textile art.
