6th Day of the Month Journals

ImageI’m taking part in a journal challenge over on the Popular Patchwork forum, for the 6th day of the month.

January saw Isabella and I at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury with our home-ed friends for a pantomime. I had tried various ways to depict it but no success unitl I saw some of Sandra Meech’s work at Oast Quilters recently. I came straight home and sorted out some pics to print out on transfer paper. I cut these up and ironed them onto the background cotton before heavily FMQ lots of squiggles and relevant words. Somewhere in there is hidden “book shopping”, “pizza hut”, “Isabella”, “Canterbury” and others but now I can’t see them…

ImageThe sixth of February saw us in Royal Tunbridge Wells to see Shakespeare For Kidz’ production of Romeo and Juliet. It was a wonderful afternoon! Later that week, Isabella made her dad and I a valentine featuring the lead characters. I decided to use it verbatim and traced the drawing onto pink polycotton as she’d used pink paper. Then I free machined it onto poly wodding and added the curtains.

I’ll be making these journals into a book at some point so both have eyelets on one side, courtesy of Crop-o-dile. (I knew some of this craft stuff would come in handy one day!)

About sheppeylass

Mum of 4, I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I've always sewn but the quilting bug snagged me a couple of years ago and now, with the encouragement of my artist husband, I'm spreading my wings into textile art.
