Dockyard Fun

It’s the school summer holidays so little one and I have her big sister with us too! With a 7 year age gap, it can be hard to choose an activity that appeals to both. Today, we visited Chatham Dockyard:

Hmm, little one was listening to the commentary about HMS Gannet here.  We’d already visited the Wooden Walls exhibit, about a young carpenter’s apprenticeship at the Dockyard during the French Wars and had lunch before we came on board. Then we visited the Titanic exhibition in the Smithery:

Later in the afternoon we went to the Ropery and both girls helped to make an actual length of rope.

Then a quick stop to see the Pirate story-telling and some colouring activities before home.

A very good-value trip as a one-day ticket is valid all year!

About sheppeylass

Mum of 4, I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I've always sewn but the quilting bug snagged me a couple of years ago and now, with the encouragement of my artist husband, I'm spreading my wings into textile art.
