English Rose

Anna- Elyse will be 18 on Monday. It’s been a pleasure to watch this beautiful young lady grow up and now she’s waiting for her A-level results and hoping to go to uni to study archaeology. She’ll need a quilt to take with her so this is our family’s present to her – “English Rose”.

The colours are a bit faded here (- too late at night for pics but it needed wrapped!) I used a pack of fat quarters as a starter and added a few more – the plain black, more red rose fabric, the wavy stripe, black snowflake. The greens liven it up a bit, I think! It’s 42×54″ and backed with 2 layers of polar fleece to make it snuggly and easy to wash. I used the walking foot to quilt long wavy lines in all directions:

I used the leftovers to make a scrappy binding and then another scrap to make the label – not brilliant but definitely makes it “finished”! Just in time, it was almost 11pm when I took the last stitch and her party’s tomorrow…;)

About sheppeylass

Mum of 4, I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I've always sewn but the quilting bug snagged me a couple of years ago and now, with the encouragement of my artist husband, I'm spreading my wings into textile art.
