Birthday Butterflies

Here are the blocks I received from the PP Birthday Club, all made-up into a quilt. Actually, there were 17 blocks but the last one will be used to turn the quilt into a quillow and I haven’t got that far yet!

The sashing fabric has little butterflies and was purchased with money from my group’s birthday club and I’ve quilted butterflies, hence the name.

I pieced the back for a bit of interest, also to have a plain bit of fabric for the quilting to show up on! I mean, I enjoyed doing it but if no one except me knows it’s there…

It’s been a bit of a race to get this quilt ready for delivery today to Aylesford Priory but at least it’s presentable, although I do intend to re-do some of the quilting.

Also delivered to the priory today for this weekend’s show is “Fancy a Cuppa?” This is Bright Headland Quilters’ group quilt, made from blocks from our first workshop at Easter.

This was actually most people’s first attempt at foundation piecing so I’m very pleased with the way it turned out. We’ve agreed to raffle it at our September meeting in aid of Macmillan as we’re having a fundraiser then.

I’m looking forward to the show very much. Lots of gorgeous quilts to view plus traders! Hopefully, I can buy some hand quilting thread as that’s hard to find locally.

About sheppeylass

Mum of 4, I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I've always sewn but the quilting bug snagged me a couple of years ago and now, with the encouragement of my artist husband, I'm spreading my wings into textile art.
