Birthday Mail

For the last month or so, squishies have been arriving through my letterbox to be stored on a high shelf ready to open on my birthday. Little one helped me open them all on the big day and the above shows the beautiful blocks all those exciting packages contained – Carrie Nation in green and pink. And not one fabric is repeated! I have 17 blocks so I am planning on making 16 into a lapquilt with the 17th as a pocket on the back to make it a “quillow”.

Here are the gorgeous cards which accompanied them:

My birthday was a busy day as there was a home-ed Easter Egg Hunt at a country park for 55 children.  Here’s Isabella in her bonnet, ready to race off around the clues:

The first clue took the children to meet this silent gnome:

After the gnome, off we headed to find the fairy in the woods. Kat did us proud with music and song as well as providing the next rhymme:

From here, the clue led the children to the Easter Lady, with a basketful of filled eggs:

Farrah did an excellent job, especially as she’d been roped-in at the last minute as a stand-in! :)Then it was a battle against the wind to find someone in “the cave”. (It’s a tiny hole but it’s exciting when you’re 6!) There was something rather strange there and he made them earn their creme eggs (Well done, Kerr!) before finding their way back across the causeway to the final clue:After all that excitement, it was off over the hill to find the Easter Bunny and claim a chocolate egg. Unfortunately, by the time I got there with the camera, the bunnies were exhausted and camera-shy! 55 Children then hit the playground on a chocolate  high…the waether may have been cold and windy but that didn’t dampen their spirits at all! 🙂

A good day.

About sheppeylass

Mum of 4, I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I've always sewn but the quilting bug snagged me a couple of years ago and now, with the encouragement of my artist husband, I'm spreading my wings into textile art.
