Where does the time go???

It’s hard to believe that it’s 2 months since I last updated my blog! I’ve been busy quilting but haven’t found much time to get on the computer – well, enough to keep up with the forums and that’s about it…

So, here’s a selection of photo’s to prove that I have been busy sewing: the little hanging above is one I made for my daughter at uni (shivering in Stirling at the moment!) It’s adapted from this little beauty, which was from the December issue of Popular patchwork: I’ve been enjoying a little embroidery recently during the few gaps when little one has been at her gymnastics class, so I’ve been catching up on my tree bom but as that’s a WIP, no pics! There are pics, though, of a couple of blocks I’ve been (mostly) handquilting for the Underground Rairoad series at PP. I figured if I quilt-as-I-go, there may be less chance of them becoming a UFO! 🙂

This was the carpenter’s star block, which I took from www.quilterscache.com. Lots of pieces, but reasonably straightforward, until I transposed 2 rows…Ah well! 🙂

It will be alongside this wheel: and this monkey wrench: The first block is Jacob’s Ladder:I’ve been making these blocks in various sizes and adding borders to finish at 16″ as I’d like a substantial quilt at the end. I love the colours so much, that I’m almost tempted to go back to my hand-pieced Farmer’s Wife sampler, which is 6″ blocks – but not quite!

I’ve been taking part in the usual swaps and the last few months have been busy with birthdays. I’ve also been busy with Christmas, including the following wallhangings: This cheeky chap is now in Southampton, with my son. He does have a couple of reindeer friends but I can’t find the pic! Instead, here is a stocking which has gone to my mum’s so she can play Santa for me on Christmas Eve as my daughter will be there. (Hopefully – who knows what the weather will do!) This cute little hanging from Fabrications is currently on the sofa, awaiting some wallspace:

There is loads more to show-and-tell but it will have to wait for another time. happy sewing! 🙂

About sheppeylass

Mum of 4, I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I've always sewn but the quilting bug snagged me a couple of years ago and now, with the encouragement of my artist husband, I'm spreading my wings into textile art.
